Definition of yellow cake

1. partially refined uranium ore that is often used as an intermediate step in the production of nuclear weapons.

2.(US)
a vanilla-flavored cake having a pale yellow color from the egg yolks and butter in the recipe.

Uranium is a key element in the continued collective imagining of the u.s. nation-state, part of an oft retold story of ‘inevitability’, secrecy and competing narratives of contamination.

A heavy metal fever dream of very real places -Yellow Cake reckons with the half-life of states imagined and real, exploring collective entanglements with entities simultaneously much smaller and larger than ourselves.
